Dormice have an extremely acute sense of smell. They use it to locate food and other dormice. The dormouse also has a very good sense of hearing, which makes it very to creep up on them! They cannot distinguish between colours at night, and probably not at day either. In fact, dormice don't have very good eyesight at all, despite the dormouse's large eyes. Dormice mainly rely on their sense of smell and hearing.
